Meet a Mom: Whitney Jeski, SORT Organizing | North Houston Moms

Today’s Meet a Mom is someone I personally know and work with, so I can say first hand, you need to know this mama!  Whitney is the owner of SORT Organizing, a local, professional organizing business in the North Houston (& beyond) ❤. I don’t know about you, but for me, as a mom, there is nothing better than an organized home. And, that’s something that most of us don’t even know where to begin nor do we have the time to make it happen. Whitney and her team (all local moms, too) can do it all – in ways you wouldn’t have even thought of – they will transform your space into an area that is beautiful, functional, and simple! They can even do unpacking jobs if you’re moving into a new home!

Whitney was a stay at home mom for 10 year and dreamed of this business for years, but she waited until her youngest daughter went to Kindergarten before making it happen. So last Fall, Whitney made the jump into entrepreaneuership and she has not looked back – her business has taken off in a years time! Whitney is so kind and such a joy to work with, and this is what truly sets her apart from others – the relationships she builds with her clients ❤.

Check out Whitney’s #meetamom interview below to learn more about her inspiration for SORT, what she loves about her job, why it’s important fo her to hire other moms, and local mom life! Plus, make sure to read to the bottom for an exlusive North Houston Moms deal.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the North Houston area?

I was born and raised in a small town in Utah. We’ve lived here for 7 years.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

Two girls, ages 11 & 6.

What are your favorite local things to do? (with kiddos or just for mom!)

My family loves going to Astros games. We love concerts at Cynthia Woods Pavilion. We always find ourselves at Crumbl that just opened and me and my husband love date night at Tris!

As hard as it is to find the time, what’s something you do just for yourself?

I love to get massages, go shopping and eat lunch at a restaurant ALONE. So if you ever see me eating alone, I’m good!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I was a criminal justice major in college and I’m a really great cook/baker!

What’s the best mom advice you have ever been given (or your own advice to mamas out there)?

Every season is the hardest and the sweetest, for their own reasons. So just enjoy it.

Tell us about SORT! When did you begin this business and what services do you offer?

SORT started in October 2020. We specialize in in-home organization and the majority of our clients are busy moms.

What was the inspiration behind starting SORT?

When my youngest started kindergarten, it was the first time in 10 years that I had the freedom to be WHITNEY again. God blessed me with the gift of organization and created the path for SORT to be what it is today.

What led you to professional organizing? Have you always liked things organized or when did that begin for you?

My earliest memory of organizing was about 7 years old. I vividly remember organizing my mom’s purse. So, I truly do think it’s always been “my thing”. Organization has always been a form of therapy for me. I tend to declutter, organize, rearrange, etc. when I’m stressed or anxious. It’s my outlet. For some it’s working out, for some it’s naps, for me it’s organizing.

What do you love about what you do?

I love teaching clients new ways to do things. I love hearing “I never would have thought of that!” or “This makes so much more sense!” And again, it’s therapeutic for me and I can only organize my own house so much so it’s awesome I get to have this outlet in other peoples homes.

What do you think sets SORT apart from other organizers out there?

I can’t say these are things other organizers don’t do, but we pride ourselves on our relationships with our clients. I can’t tell you how many clients I am bummed to be finished up with. This line of work has us often times working side by side with clients, leading to story swapping, tip sharing, laughing, all the while making their life more simplified. We work hard and genuinely love what we do.

What did you do before starting your own business? Have you always been entrepreneurial?

I was a stay at home mom for 10 years. Entrepreneurship does not come easy for me and I’m still learning but I love what I do!

You have a few other moms who work for you, was it important to you to hire other moms when filling those positions?

YES! I knew I couldn’t be the only mom who was coming out of the “stay at home” life wanting more. As a boss, I love the flexibility I’m able to give my employees. Life happens, kids get sick, people need mental health days, vacations pop up… my employees don’t need to worry about whether or not Whitney will understand. As a mom, I UNDERSTAND!

How do you balance owning your business and being a mama?

Fortunately, my kids are both in school full time and I have the freedom to create my own schedule. Also, I staffed SORT with employees that I can count on (crucial)!

What are your future plans and dreams for SORT? Any deals, sales, or events North Houston Mom can be on the lookout for?

I’m constantly dreaming up what SORT looks like 1, 5, 10 years down the road. It’s already grown to something I wasn’t expecting in such a short time. I have dreams to have a warehouse, a bunch of long term clients, a large staff who can say they LOVE working for SORT, and a family that is proud of me.

SORT will offer a 15% discount to anyone who reads this, fills out a contact form on our website (HERE) and mentions this article! We are also going to start having “flash sale sessions” so make sure you’re following us on Instagram (@lets.sort)!
