Today’s Meet a Mom, Rose Campbell, is a mother’s advocate, business owner, Doula turned lifestyle / motherhood blogger, and currently Mrs. The Woodlands 2021. And, she’s a local mama to 5 kiddos! She co-stars in Stork’s Nursery, a reality nursery design show where she uses her experience to design and build the nursery of every family’s dreams. She is passionate about many causes such as championing mothers in areas of importance such as postpartum depression, childhood-mortality, and partnering with nonprofits and organizations to support parents where they need it most 🤍.
Rose is currently working on the Mrs. Texas competition which is in September (16-18th in Corsicana) where her platform is how to lower the Maternal Mortality Rate in Texas. Check out her interview below to learn more about her platform, her advice to moms, and all things mom life!
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the North Houston area?
I am originally from Cypress. I was raised here. I left to move to Katy/Sugarland for 6 years. Now we are finishing the build of our home in Conroe, Texas.
How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?
I have 1 boy and 4 girls. They’re 7, 6, 5,4, and my youngest is 2.
Least favorite mom job? (i.e. packing lunches, dishes, bath time, etc.)
Laundry … I hate doing laundry. I would hire someone to just do laundry.
Best mom hack that makes life easier?
I have Busy Bins for each of the kids. I fill a tin lunchbox with magnets, stickers, and some Duplo Legos to take on-the-go and have a special basket at home with Water Wows, reusable stickers, special snacks, and lift-the-flap books. Busy bins are great for travel, restaurants, or when I just need to get some things done. They also really came in handy when I was busy nursing a newborn or just needed some peace and quiet for a bit. The trick to making them work is to only have them out at the designated times and then putting them away right after.
What are your favorite local things to do? (with kiddos or just for mom!)
I am a travel influencer. We get to review resorts. My kids love it. We love exploring new restaurants and hiking new places. We camp a lot. We own Peacocks, chickens, dogs, and many other animals. We are very outdoorsy people.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
People are constantly surprised by how young I am, after they hear about the successful businesses I have run and the number of children I have!
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, or creative endeavor? Please share!
Yes, I do PR for women owned businesses. I do a lot of volunteer work that involves foster children that have been abused. I do volunteer work for A21 which is a sex trafficking prevention nonprofit. I also do a lot of work for PPCM FUND which is a Maternal Mortality Prevention Nonprofit.
Mrs. Texas competition is coming up! Tell us about being Mrs. The Woodlands this year and what it means to you to be a part of the Mrs. Texas Competition.
It has been so amazing to represent The Woodlands in 2021. I have met such amazing people and been able to support some amazing local businesses. My platform for Mrs. Texas is how we can lower the Maternal Mortality Rate In Texas. Texas is in the top 10 for women dying while giving life. That needs to stop.
What’s the best mom advice you have ever been given (or your own advice to mamas out there)?
Please don’t compare yourself to other moms. Most people put up a good front, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a messy kitchen behind closed doors. Just focus on meeting your family’s needs; that’s all you can really do and is all your children will ask of you.
Future plans and dreams for your business/ creative ventures?
Currently, I am just working on Mrs. Texas Competition which is September 16-18 in Corsicana
