Meet a Mom: Juliana Buenrostro, Jujuu Photography - North Houston Moms

Allow me to introduce you to Juliana, a local mom to 3 kids – with another on the way, and the uber talented photographer behind Jujuu Photography. You have probably seen me talk about Jujuu Photography before as she recently captured my family during a Fall family session and she was featured in North Houston Mom’s lastest Photography Guide. I have also had the pleasure of working with Juliana for an event while I lived in Katy, so I can say from experience that Juliana is a joy to work with! She’s one of those photographers that makes you say “how in the world did she get such a amazing pictures from that chaotic session?!”. I am seriosuly so proud and impressed with how hard this sweet mama has worked since she officially launched her photography business in 2018. Juliana offers all types of photography from lifestyle, portrait, weddings and events! Her style is light and airy, but she also offers a moody style as well! Recently she has expanded her business by launching a bounce house business named Zoe’s Bounce House offering a unique, white adult size bounce castle perfect for any occasion!

Check out Juliana’s #meetamom interview below to learn more about her photography business, when her talent began, and all things mom life! Plus, make sure to follow Juliana on Instagram at @jujuuphotography as she is always announcing amazing mini portrait/session opportunities that you don’t want to miss!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the Houston area?

I have lived in Houston since I was 3 years old!

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

God has blessed us with 3 babes and one more on the way my husband and I have an almost middle schooler..totally not ready for that! We also have 2 under 4 and one more due February 2020!

Least favorite mom job? (i.e. packing lunches, dishes, bath time, etc.)

My least favorite mom job I would have to say is loading and unloading the kids in and out of the car!

As hard as it is to find the time, what’s something you do just or yourself?

I like getting in the car and grabbing my favorite cup of coffee or food and enjoying the quiet in the car while the hubby is at home with the kids!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I was in the military straight after high school!

Tell us about Jujuu Photography! When did you start your business and what do you offer?

Jujuu was in the making since high school, growing up I knew I wanted to do photography but I never got alot of good feedback when people would ask “What do you want to be when you grow up” so of course did not persue photography but I loved it and it was just a part of me. I was always the one with a camera in her hand. It was not until I had my second babe and my husband bought me my first DSLR that I really started doing more. It started with my babes and family and from there I started working for free and accepting donations to grow my portfolio and then in 2018 I launched Jujuu Photography officially on Instagram!

I offer all types of photography from lifestyle, portrait, weddings and events! My style is light and airy but I also offer a moody style as well!

Have you always had an eye for photography or when did that begin for you?

believe I have, I was always told “Oh man that’s a good picture” but I never really understood what they meant, I would say its just a picture you just hold the camera and click the button.. it was not until I really started doing it professionally and realized what people meant and when people would say you have the “eye”. Growing up my mom would ALWAYS photograph and videotape my siblings and I. She would make us do poses and tell us “pretend like your not looking or hold the flower” things like that and now that I am older I realize where my gift came from. Honestly growing up I did NOT like taking photos because my mom would always take some of us and welp my children are now in the same boat I was when I was a kid lol!

Do you have any other business or creative endeavors? Please share!

I do!
We recently started a bounce house business named Zoe’s Bounce House!
It is a white adult size bounce castle perfect for any occasion, you can find us on Instagram @zoesbouncehouse!

How do you “balance” being a mama and a business owner? Do you experience the dreaded “mom guilt”?

Ahhhh “ Mom Guilt” I wish we could just make that saying go away!
I am in my 3rd year of running my business and I am still trying to figure it all out and see where the perfect balance will be and I have yet to find it, God is who keeps me going and who gives me the strength when I feel like I am losing.
Launching a business when my younger two were only 3 and 18 months was definitely a rough time but God, my husband and family have been there for me and that is why I am still here.

Future plans and dreams for your business ventures?

Praying that 2022 is only the beginning of what Jujuu has to offer and I am looking forward to our new family of 6 and God willing Jujuu will be here for years to come!
