Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the North Houston area?

I’m originally from Manhattan, NY but I was raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. I moved all throughout FL for school and lived there for about 16 years before I came to North Houston area.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have two amazing little girls. I have an almost 5 year old and a 3 year old.

What are your favorite local things to do? (with kiddos or just for mom!)

I love taking my girls to family events where they have local music and fun activities for kids. I also take my girls to Urban Air and Kanga’s

As hard as it is to find the time, what’s something you do just for yourself?

I like to go and get my nails done alone. I feel that is the only time I really get some “me” time.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I speak fluent Spanish. Not a lot of people believe I come from a hispanic background so they always get surprised when I talk.

What’s the best mom advice you have ever been given (or your own advice to mamas out there)?

Please don’t forget about taking care of yourself first. I lost myself when I first had my daughter. I put everyone before me, which obviously a mother will do whatever it takes to make sure their kids are taken care of, but in between everything, I was not happy.

If you take care of yourself and your happiness first, in return, your kids will be happy and life will be much better. Don’t ever feel guilty about wanting to do something you want to do.

Tell us about Confetti Me Sweets! When did you start your business and what do you offer?

I started my business at the end of 2018. At the time, I was a stay at home mama and I was just trying to make macarons for myself since I was always out buying them. I got a tad bit obsessed with Pinterest and trying to perfect the macarons (it’s the Virgo in me) and eventually got really good at them.

When I was younger, I was always in art clubs and always drawing but I never knew I can take my artistic side to making macarons.

What do you think sets your macaron business apart from other ones out there?

My family is from Dominican Republic and my parents are constantly bringing me fresh and unique flavors that I can use in my macarons. This is why it does not taste like a macaron you’ve had elsewhere…but better!!

I always have fresh macarons weekly, and I make sure that my customers try a “real” macaron where it’s chewy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I am very particular how I want the macarons to taste and look, so making sure my customers are satisfied is my number one priority.

What did you do before starting Confetti Me Sweets (or still do if you still work outside of your macaron business)? Have you always been entrepreneurial?

I became entrepreneurial after I started my business and I’ve learned so much along the way. I was a stay at home mama before I started Confetti Me Sweets.

I am now a full time Realtor and I manage my macaron business full time.

Where did you learn to make macarons? I have heard it’s not an easy item to make!

I am self taught! I learned through Pinterest and YouTube, and lots of trial and error.

How do you balance owning your business and being a mama?

I am still trying to figure this out myself lol I am ALWAYS busy! It’s all about discipline and planning out your day in advance. I block out times to do the things I need too and most importantly time for my girls.

They are in pre-K about 3 days a week, so when they are with me, I always make sure to put my attention to them or I actually have them help me with making macarons or I give them their own to decorate. I also take them to meetings, house showings, or they help me deliver macarons.

It’s all about showing them how to manage a business too!

What are your future plans and dreams for Confetti Me Sweets? Any deals, sales, or events North Houston Mom can be on the lookout for?

Confetti Me Sweets LLC is growing and is continuing to grow and I am just super grateful. I eventually want to get my own kitchen to expand throughout TX and other states.

I am currently at the Woodlands Farmers Market, Farmers Market on Tamina, and Woodlands Square Market on 1488. You can also find me on Facebook or Instagram with different deals and sales.
