Jamie just launched a new website so that you can easily shop all her items online, too (with free pick-up available!). If you haven’t been to Turquoise Door, you need to go check it out asap! And, this Thursday might just be the perfect time as downtown Tomball is having a Galentines event where all the downtown restaurants and stores stay open late for shopping fun.

Keep on reading to check out Jamie’s #meetamom interview to learn more about Turquoise Door, her inspiration behind opening her boutique, and of course all things #momlife!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the North Houston area?

I was born in Houston and grew up right here in Spring.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have 2 precious boys, Cody (11) and Ryan (8)

As hard as it is to find the time, what’s something you do just for yourself?

I love to run and to work out as much and when I can. Sometimes that’s more than others, but it helps me clear my mind and relives stress and just makes me feel better!!!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I was a Kindergarten teacher for 4 years right when I got out of college.

What’s the best mom advice you have ever been given (or your own advice to mamas out there)?

Always do what’s best for you and your family. Do not compare yourself and your family to others, we are all different and all on different paths and that’s okay!!!

Tell us about Turquoise Door! When did you open the doors to your business and what do you offer?

I opened the shop in 2012 and it started out as a Co-Op boutique. It was filled with multiple different vendors which allowed us to truly be a one stop shop, we had a little bit of everything. Clothing, home décor, gifts, seasonal items, baby and kids. Over the years I slowly took over the entire shop turning it in to what it is today. A women’s boutique fill with clothing, accessories and unique gifts.

What was the inspiration behind starting Turquoise Door?

I had been traveling all around Texas doing Jr. League holiday gift markets, set up in Warren-ton/Round Top and Canton for years and was wanting something more permanent.

What did you do before starting your own business (or still do if you still work outside of the boutique)?

As I stated above, I graduated college with a teaching degree and taught Kindergarten for 4 years.

What has been the most rewarding thing about your work?

We love it when customers leave here filling happy and with a smile on their face!!

How do you balance owning your business and being Mama?

That is a tough question, as soon as I feel like I am kickin’ booty at work and on my A game, I feel like I am behind in my mom lift and vise versa. I think its something all working moms can relate to. I just get up and try my best each and every day!!

What are your future plans and dreams for Turquoise Door?

My goal for 2022 is to grow on our online business and have it essentially be like having a second location.

Any events or deals North Houston moms can be on the lookout for?

Tomball is having its Galentine’s Sip & Stroll on Feb. 10th from 5-9. All the downtown retailers and restaurants will be open late to participate.
