Meet a Mom: Brittany Ashmore | North Houston Moms

Today’s Meet a Mom is a local mama that you might already be following as she has a successful blog – The Ashmores Blog. Behind the blog, is a supportive and kind, Jesus loving mom to 3, Brittany Ashmore. I followed along with Brittany before I moved to North Houston, so her kindness and acceptance when I moved here was such a blessing and a testament to her character. Brittany started her blog over 8 years ago to share her pumping and full time teaching story and now her blog has evolved to sharing her Faith, foster care journey, mom life, teacher life, and more! Brittany is also a rep for Young Living & Beauty Counter, and has an exclusive NHM’s deal for you all (check it out here)!

Check out Brittany’s #meetamom interview below to learn more about Brittany’s blog, why she’s not afraid to share her truth, her business endeavors, and more!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the North Houston area?

I am originally from Katy, Texas. I have lived in the north Houston area for 13 years.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have 3 children.

Oakland, 11

Ainsley, 7

Leighton, 4

We are a licensed home for foster care too!

Least favorite mom job? (i.e. packing lunches, dishes, bath time, etc.)

My latest favorite mom job is laundry!

As hard as it is to find the time, what’s something you do just for yourself?

Something I do for myself is get my nails and toes done monthly!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I was adopted at birth.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, or creative endeavor? Please share!

I am the face behind The Ashmores Blog – I have been blogging for over 8 years. I also use and sell Youngliving and Beauty Counter.

Tell us more about The Ashmores Blog! When did you begin blogging and what was the inspiration behind sharing your life through a blog & social media?

The inspiration behind my blog was to share my pumping/ teaching full time journey! I didn’t know anyone who pumped exclusively while working outside of the home. I shared tips for boosting your milk supply and encouragement in your journey!

How has your blog evolved over the years?

My blog has evolved to a platform where I share my Faith openly, it has opened the door for numerous partnerships, and I run a blog Facebook group called I’m So Blogging This! I also wanted to create a hashtag and IG page that embodied the joyful mama in us all. So I created #joyfulmamas / @joyfulmamas where I highlight and share many mamas on that feed! The hashtag has been used over a million times.

You are very passionate about Foster Care and becoming a Foster parent, please share about the decision to become a foster parent and what that experience has been like for you?

We have always had adoption on ours hearts because I was adopted. We didn’t start learning about foster care up until the last 5 years or so. Both of our hearts were aligned on this topic and decided to become licensed. We got licensed in February 2020 and still have not had a placement yet. We do hope to adopt a little boy!

From what I can tell, you are not afraid to speak your mind and your convictions are strong, have you always had the courage to speak your mind or when did you decide it’s better to speak up than to be silent?

I am not afraid to speak up for TRUTH. If it’s in the Bible I believe it to be true. Honestly the last year or so is when I felt an urge of courage and boldness to speak up and not be afraid to do so.

Hebrews 13:6

So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.

Future plans and dreams for your blog & business ventures?

I would LOVE to write a book one day or run some type of ministry.

What is the best mom advice you’ve ever been given or the best advice you have for new moms?

A piece of advice for mamas is to always give Grace even when your day is long and hard. Grace upon grace. Also think before you speak to your little children. Our words are so important and we can’t take them back.
