Meet a Mom: Audrey Zeter, North Houston Moms | North Houston Moms

It’s Meet-a-Mom Monday! I am so excited to be kicking off this new series today! North Houston Mom’s Meet-a-Mom will be a weekly blog series (& social media share) introducing inspiring local moms. You’ll be introduced to local moms who are worthy of being featured just for rocking this thing called motherhood, but many of these moms are also running businesses, starting a business, inspiring other moms on social media or through online platforms, working within charity organizations, creators of awesome products, and more! This is my absolute favorite series and I can’t wait to share the moms I have in store for you each week.

To kick off the series, today’s Meet-a-Mom feature is… well, me! In honor of North Houston Mom’s website launch last Friday and since I have not done a great job of introducing myself thus far (I am a super introvert by nature), I thought this would be a fun way to introduce the series and myself!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the North Houston area?

I’m from Katy, TX. I lived in Katy until I graduated High School and then moved around Texas for a few years – San Marcos, Austin, Cedar Park, Cypress/Tomball area – and then after the birth of my first child, my husband and I landed in Montgomery, TX in 2014. Unfortunately, after less than 2 years, we were relocated to Katy for my husband’s job. After 5 years in Katy (in March of this year), we had the opportunity to return to Montgomery, so we are back!

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have two beautiful children, Bree is 7 and Miles is 4.

Least favorite mom job? (i.e. packing lunches, dishes, bath time, etc.)

Truth be told, I am not a fan of meal time or cooking for the family 😬! Some meals are great, don’t get me wrong, but my kiddos are picky eaters and slow eaters, so meal time can be a little frustrating. Plus, I am not a great cook or one that loves cooking, so there’s that! The whole meal planning + dishes just isn’t my jam right now…… #toobadkidshavetoeat

What are your favorite local things to do? (with kiddos or just for mom!)

I am still figuring out this area! When, we lived here before I was a new mom to an infant, so I didn’t do much outside the home, and we have only been back a few months. But, we live out by Lake Conroe, so we love going with friends out on the lake and the kids love fishing with their Daddy.

As hard as it is to find the time, what’s something you do just for yourself?

I am an introvert, so alone time is super important to me and I have finally figured that out, so I 2 things religiously: 1. I go on walks alone when the kids go to school. It’s exercise and also my time with God where I pray, listen to worship music and/or find a faith based podcast. It helps set my mind right for the day and week. 2. I have always been a stickler for bedtime with the kids, so that I have time each evening to decompress, relax, and watch my shows!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I have a Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work. I only worked in the field for a couple years and then stayed home when I became a Mom, so I feel like it’s not something I talk about often since it’s some time since I have been a working social worker.

How did you become involved in The Local Moms Network? And, what was the inspiration behind bringing North Houston Moms to the Montgomery County area?

When I was living in Katy, a friend and I founded and ran Katy Moms Network which is part of The Local Moms Network. The Local Moms Network provides hyper-local, online platforms with information and resources in over 100 locations across the country. Each site is for moms and created by moms in that town. The sites are designed to be a one-stop resource guide to keep moms in the know about what’s happening in their area. It was hard to leave Katy Moms Network, so it was an easy decision to start a site here in my new area of North Houston. North Houston Moms covers all of Montgomery County including The Woodlands, Magnolia, Conroe & Montgomery. I am so excited to bring The Local Moms Network to North Houston!

What did you do prior to founding Katy Moms Network?

I was a social worker for a few years after college, then I even dabbled in Wedding Coordinating and worked as a Treatment Coordinator in a dental office. Once I had my daughter in 2014, I stayed home for 5 years until I began Katy Moms Network in 2018.

Are you involved in any other business ventures, work, or organizations?

Yes! My family also co-owns a pickle company – JB’s Pantry Pickles! We have dear friends that started this business venture in 2019 and they brought us in last year to help the business grow. We have been selling locally and hand packing pickles in our homes, but just this year we have gone commercial and will be in stores near you soon!

Future plans and dreams for North Houston Moms?

So many! I want my website to become the go-to resource for local moms – a place you go when you need to know what to do that day with your kids (using the website calendar and children’s activities resources) or when you need to find a resource for your family – for example: a pediatrician, orthodontist, a 3D ultrasound, a Dance class, a Mother’s Day Out program, etc. And, I want my social media accounts to be a place that shares local information from businesses, to events, to resources and beyond. I will also share some of my mom life when I think it could be helpful to other moms to not feel alone. I am not a perfect mom (no one is), and I think it’s so important to see all sides of motherhood on social media. All are welcome on my sites, please come as you are! NHMs will be a safe place for local resources, guides, events, and positivity. I am also passionate about supporting small, local businesses, so I will be sharing and featuring local businesses and ultimately providing unique marketing opportunities! I have many plans and dreams for NHMs, but I also fully trust in God’s plan and will allow him to lead me in all my endeavors.
