Meet a Mom: Amy Scott, BASH The Woodlands | North Houston Moms

Today I want to introduce you to Amy Scott, a local mom, who started her own business last year during the Covid shutdown and has been bringing smiles to people all over town since then! Amy owns BASH The Woodlands which offers 6 foot party hat signs delivered directly to your yard. Amy’s signs are unique, completely customizable, and very durable – plus they look amazing in photos! I love supporting mama owned businesses, so I already have my son’s birthday sign on order!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the North Houston area?

I was born and raised in Spring, TX and have lived in the Spring/Woodlands area my entire life, with the exception of college and a few years after as a newlywed in Houston.

How many kiddos do you have and how old are they?

I have three boys- Henry (8), Hudson (7) and Harrison (3). I always wanted to be a boy mom, so it’s a dream come true… even with all the smells and sounds that come from a little frat house.

Least favorite mom job? (i.e. packing lunches, dishes, bath time, etc.)

Cleaning the bathrooms; specifically the toilets- with three boys that alone is a full-time job. How pee ends up in nearly every place but the toilet will forever astound me.

What are your favorite local things to do? (with kiddos or just for mom!)

We live in Creekside Park, so one of our favorite family rituals is riding bikes to Crust Pizza and treating the boys to Jordan’s Sweet Shoppe afterwards. I also love the dining and shopping at Market Street.

As hard as it is to find the time, what’s something you do just for yourself?

I try to use an hour each day (while the 3 year old is napping) to recharge. Whether it’s watching a show, reading, praying, working out, or just relaxing. I also get some alone time while I’m out making BASH deliveries that I use to catch up on podcasts or “Mommy music” (gangster rap from the early 2000s).

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

Probably that I love gangster rap (previous question) haha!

What’s the best mom advice you have ever been given (or your own advice to mamas out there)?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Hard phases with children are just that- PHASES. Everything is temporary, so ride it out and try to make the most of each moment with your kiddos.

Tell us about BASH The Woodlands! What services do you offer?

BASH The Woodlands offers 6 foot party hat signs that we deliver directly to your yard! They are totally unique, completely customizable, and very durable. Our signs are totally weatherproof and fit in any size yard. Plus, they look amazing in photos!

When did you begin BASH & what was the inspiration behind starting your own business?

I started BASH The Woodlands during the COVID lockdown in 2020. All 3 of my boys have summer birthdays, and the idea came to me when we were planning car parades instead of birthday parties. I wanted something that I hadn’t seen before that was fun, simple and appealing. I found the BASH franchise (started by two moms in San Antonio) and had to be a part of it!

What did you do before starting BASH?

I was (and still am) a stay at home mom. Most rewarding and challenging job I’ve ever had!

What has been the most rewarding thing about owning your own business?

I love having something for myself and feeling like I’m contributing to our family income. More rewarding though, and the main reason why I do what I do, has been the smiles on the faces of all the people (young and old) that I’ve been able to surprise with a BASH sign. Making their day brighter is why I love BASH so much!

How do you balance owning your business and being a mama?

I wanted to make sure I could find something that wouldn’t take away from my first priority, which is being a full-time mom. BASH is wonderful because I can take requests and make reservations quickly over my phone and create the signs during naptime or when my boys are at school. Deliveries are in the evening after bedtime, so it takes no time away from my family.

What are your future plans and dreams for BASH The Woodlands? Any deals or sales North Houston Mom can be on the lookout for?

New designs, different signs, larger inventory! Right now, I’m just trying to grow my following and customer base. As a word-of-mouth business, we primarily grow by referrals and happy customers. We currently have a sale going on in July (for my birthday!) to get $7.26 off of any July birthday sign. Also, if you book a sign anytime and mention North Houston Moms, you get $5 off!
